The Ventura Invitational

The Ventura Invitational course navigates from the Santa Monica Bay to the Ventura Marina. Vessels from out of the area sometimes spend the preceding night in Marina del Rey.  It is considered a feeder to the Oakley.  The hospitality of the Ventura Yacht Club is well known and this contest has become a favorite amongst log racers.

Type: Feeder to the Oakley
Host: Ventura Yacht Club
Venue: Starts at Point Dume’ and proceeds to the vicinity of Ventura Harbor.
Schedule: Some out-of-area vessels arrive at Marina Del Rey on Thursday afternoon. No skippers meeting. Contest is run on Friday morning. Awards typically may be presented at VYC Friday evening or presented at the Oakley awards on Saturday.
Moorage: Slips available in Marina del Rey by arrangement with local YC’s.  Ventura YC provides moorage at their Club for Friday night & possibly the weekend.
Observers: Skippers supply their own qualified observers.
Dress: Casual boating attire.
Additional: Friday night dinner available at the Ventura YC.
