The Pabst/Del Mar

The Pabst and the Del Mar contests are run alternately on even and odd years respectively. Both are essentially identical and travel from the vicinity of Point Vicente to Catalina Harbor on the ocean side of the Isthmus at Catalina Island. Their great popularity probably stems from the typically superb weather this time of year, the seemingly tropical island ambiance of Cat. Harbor, and the free day on Saturday for lounging, fishing, or other elective activities.

Venue:	Travels from the vicinity of Palos Verdes /Point Vicente to Catalina Harbor at the Isthmus, Catalina
Schedule:	No skippers meeting. The contest is run mid-day Friday, arriving at Cat Harbor mid-afternoon. Awards are presented at a barbecue dinner held at the California YC Ballast Point facility on Friday evening.  Although there are no further official activities pertaining to the contest, skippers typically lay over on Saturday and return on Sunday.
Moorage:	Moorings at Catalina Harbor are arranged by the individual skippers on arrival.
Observers:	Skippers supply their own qualified observers.
Dress:	Boating casual (bring a jacket)
Additional:	The California YC Ballast Point facility and barbeques are typically available for contestants' use on Saturday.  Also, meals and supplies are available at the Isthmus.
